Tei-An (with kids…gasp!)

by Cheryl Collett, Itty Bitty Foodies - Yummy Adventures with Kids!

One Arts Plaza

Pikelet would sooner have a platter of sushi than a tray of cupcakes. For his 6th birthday we did the unthinkable. On a whim we decided to whisk the whole family off to Tei-An at One Arts Plaza, on a busy Saturday night without a reservation! We were playing with fire taking kids to a place we only reserve for date night.

Better than cupcakes!

Upon arrival, we sheepishly told the hostess we didn’t have a reservation but Pikelet just had to have their stellar sushi for his birthday dinner.

Spot the rascals behind the potplants

If your child is fiddly like my little Lollo, please do not take him/her to Watel’s World Piece Café. If he can sit for an extended period of time and refrain from touching everything, then he’s in for a real treat at this Lower Greenville neighborhood spot.

Best tako in Oak Cliff – Zen Sushi

Zen Sushi @ Bishop Arts District

Pikelet’s first encounter with tako (Japanese octopus sushi) was at the opening of Zen Sushi in the Bishop Arts District, in 2007. He was nearly 2 at the time. Although, Oak Cliff is famous for their taco joints, as far as my little foodie child, Pikelet’s concerned, this is the only tako that matters.
