Teriyaki Chicken with Peaches Kebabs

by Cheryl Collett, Itty Bitty Foodies - Yummy Adventures with Kids!

Peaches are in season. The best way to select a peach is by smelling it. Choose one with a strong peachy fragrance. The redness on it’s skin is not an indication of ripeness but discard all that have hints of green in it which means they’ve been picked too early.

Easy Slow Roasted Salmon with Mustard Tarragon Sauce

by Cheryl Collett, Itty Bitty Foodies - Yummy Adventures with Kids!

We like to eat well at dinner time but with two small children, it is often hard for me to stay in the kitchen for more than twenty minutes. This slow roasted salmon recipe I created for Artizone is an easy solution for us. Slow roasting is a great way to fool proof cooking fish. I basically pop the salmon filet in the oven at a very low temperature for twenty  minutes and  it comes out coral pink, soft and silken in texture (almost like smoked salmon) and never dry.

Fall for this Valentine’s Day Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich

by Cheryl Collett, Itty Bitty Foodies - Yummy Adventures with Kids!

Chocolate Ice Cream with Espresso Cookie Sandwich

“Mama, what happens when Cupid’s arrow pierces your heart?” asks my wide eyed 6 year old, Pikelet. “Does it hurt?” Kids this age are so literal. I laughed and gently told him that there wasn’t a real arrow. “It just means that you’ve found the right person to love but it’s not something you need to worry about till you’re grown up.” I’m not the syrupy commercialised sentimental type and Valentine’s Day has never been an ‘event’ in the household. But Pikelet’s statement has stuck with me and I realise just how much we’ve fallen in love with our kids. So perhaps we’ll allow some mushiness and let this Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich recipe melt our hearts.

Lazy Weekend Family Buffet Lunch

by Cheryl Collett, Itty Bitty Foodies - Yummy Adventures with Kids!

The spread

We all love to eat different things in our family. Pikelet, my five year old is more adventurous and three year old Lollo often needs coaxing to try something new. That’s why our lazy weekend buffet lunches are a favorite in the household. It is a presentation of all our favorite items and a few new ones in case someone wants to try something new.

Lollo & Pikelet

Happy Birthday IttyBittyFoodies! It’s time to have a Birthday Month Celebration! A year ago, I didn’t know if I could write again after taking a hiatus from writing when Lollo was born. Well here we are on our 60th post and nominated for Babble’s Top 100 Mom Food Blogs (please vote here under Cheryl Collett), named one of Dallas Best Blogs on Wherelocalseat.com and was featured on TinyDallas under Moms We Love.

Pikelet is about to turn 6 and Lollo is now 3.

JJ&B – Jellies, Jams, Butters & Le Ster Crepes

by Cheryl Collett, Itty Bitty Foodies - Yummy Adventures with Kids!

Holiday Pack - Trio from JJ&B

We are having a love affair with the handmade jams & jellies from JJ&B. The Holiday Trio Pack (Chocolate Raspberry, Ginger Pear Preserves and Cabernet Savignon Jelly) delivered from Artizone is a treat  and we’ve been slathering them on everything from the Mother’s Day french toast brunch, sandwiches for school lunch to crêpes for dessert.  Our recent discovery, LeSter Crêpes has been a huge hit. The kids like to taste test with the trio of JJ&B jams but  no one can agree which one they like best. Unfortunately with only 12 crêpes in a pack, they’re all gone in two days.
