We like to eat well at dinner time but with two small children, it is often hard for me to stay in the kitchen for more than twenty minutes. This slow roasted salmon recipe I created for Artizone is an easy solution for us. Slow roasting is a great way to fool proof cooking fish. I basically pop the salmon filet in the oven at a very low temperature for twenty minutes and it comes out coral pink, soft and silken in texture (almost like smoked salmon) and never dry.

Oh*holidays Oh*Brownie
Oh*Brownie, I think our whole family is collectively in love with you. The crunchy top layer at first bite that dissolves into a soft gooey chew and oh the many flavors. How does one begin? Oh*Brownie, will you give us Good Karmal for a choosing a Dark and Mysterious over a Smart Blondie or should we trust that Smooth Operator ? Whatever we choose, I’m sure it will be just Mochalicious.
Iris McCallister’s new venture Oh*Brownie has scored some serious swoon points with Pikelet & Lollo. It was so much of a treat that Lollo sneaked one into his lunch bag the first time he had lunch at school. McCallister (you may recognize the famous last name if you’re a foodie) is Matt McCallister’s wife of the much acclaimed CampO Modern Country Bistro that opened about a minute ago in Oak Cliff. But the brownie thing is all hers and she’s been working on perfecting her recipe for over four years now.

Lazy Weekend Family Buffet Lunch
We all love to eat different things in our family. Pikelet, my five year old is more adventurous and three year old Lollo often needs coaxing to try something new. That’s why our lazy weekend buffet lunches are a favorite in the household. It is a presentation of all our favorite items and a few new ones in case someone wants to try something new.
Taste the Honey Dallas Food Swap – the new Stitch ‘n Bitch
Remember the Stitch ’n Bitch knitting craze in 1994 where flocks of young women wielding knitting needles gathered at fashionable cafes to chat and make fashionista ponchos? Check out this decade’s Stitch ’n Bitch – The Larder Swap! And Denise Bethel Molina of Honey Crew Granola & Darlene Rosen of Honey Girl Kitchen are the ladies heading the Dallas Taste the Honey Food Swappers.
IttyBittyFoodies celebrates 1 year
Happy Birthday IttyBittyFoodies! It’s time to have a Birthday Month Celebration! A year ago, I didn’t know if I could write again after taking a hiatus from writing when Lollo was born. Well here we are on our 60th post and nominated for Babble’s Top 100 Mom Food Blogs (please vote here under Cheryl Collett), named one of Dallas Best Blogs on Wherelocalseat.com and was featured on TinyDallas under Moms We Love.
Pikelet is about to turn 6 and Lollo is now 3.
Oddfellows in Oak Cliff
We have a love hate relationship with Oddfellows in the Bishop Arts District. We love the food but hate the long waits. But they have this wonderful fried tomato sandwich that beckons me and as a result, I’ve subjected my IttyBittyFoodies to the brutal waits – three times. On a fine day, diners can wait outside sipping coffee or hot chocolate made with their super expensive La Marzocco Strada Espresso coffee machine and the kids just wander about and playing with the piano outside.
Texas Daily Harvest Milk from Urban Acres
Milk is milk to me. If I’m passing a pharmacy I won’t think twice about popping in for a gallon rather than driving elsewhere for the organic stuff (foodies please don’t balk!). Sure I think that organic milk tastes better than conventional but it’s not enough for me to go the extra mile – literally. That is until last weekend when fate gave me a chance encounter with Texas Daily Harvest Milk at Urban Acres in Oak Cliff.
Freshest Easter Eggs
It’s Easter and Pikelet & Lollo have eggs on their minds. Not the chocolate variety but the regular hen laid sort. Just take a gander at these farm fresh beauties from Frognot Farms. The darling dozen come in different sizes and in sweet hues of pale green, blue, brown, spotty and crisp white (look at my header!). The children are so charmed by their appearance, they cannot wait to eat them. Looks like we’ll be having Easter eggs all year long!
