Central Market throws open it’s doors today! The Preston Royal locale (previously housed by Borders) marks the opening of Central Market’s ninth store. IttyBittyFoodies had a media sneak peak yesterday at some of the innovations and offerings customers can look forward like the new selection of New York Deli-style dishes and baked goods. Think artisanal boiled and then baked bagels onsite and new bialys and New York City based Charlito’s cocina artisan salumi. There’ll be a full service custom sandwich bar with a “Build Your Own” sandwich option as well as a menu of chef created sandwiches.
There are other changes to look out for too like the individualized bagging and carryout service at the checkout for a speedier shopping trip. This is to counteract the problem of a shared parking lot as well as a much smaller space than the Lovers Lane location. There’s a community room but no cooking school and the bulk section is smaller with more prepacked items to take away at your convenience.
“Our team has spent months traveling to New York City, a place with great grocery stores built into smaller square footage, to study the most innovative delis and grocery concepts to learn how to pack the most flavor into every square foot,” says Stephen Butt, Senior Vice Preisdent for Central Market, a disvion of H-E-B
Despite the smaller digs, customers can still get all the products they expect from other Central Markets – more than 400 cheeses, in house roasted whole cuts of meat and deli meats, professional meat cutters and fish mongers and all natural, organic and conventional produce.
So if you’re really into food, check out this week’s opening specials – T Bone steaks at just $9.99/lb and bottles of Groth Oakville Cabernet for $29.99. I see another Dine-In-Date-Night in my future!
Till our next Happy Meal!
