Lemley’s at Dallas Farmers Market

by Cheryl Collett, Itty Bitty Foodies - Yummy Adventures with Kids!

Tonight's dessert after a day of painting paper boats

Many of us associate Lemley’s at the Dallas Farmers Market with sweet summer peaches but I’ve always found all his produce just stellar. The last month Pikelet & Lollo have had asked me repeatedly to drive downtown for Lemley’s canteloupes. The sweet aroma will envelop you before you even cut one open. And oh the heavenly pink coral flesh that await at first bite – juicy, sweet, luscious…

Lemley's Elbertas... where a peach actually tastes like..well... a peach

There’s really nothing you need to add to it. Except maybe a few of those famous Lemley’s old fashioned Elberta’s peaches.

ITTYBITTYFOODIES INFO: Weekends are the best time to go if you also want to meet “Old Man Lemley” as the kids call, JT Lemley. He’s just lovely.

Till our next happy meal!

  1. Love JT. His produce rocks and he is a saint.

  2. We LOVE those peaches! In cobbler, in salad, on the grill…yum!

  3. Can’t believe no one’s mentioned the tomatoes!! That’s what takes me to Lemley’s every summer. And it seems many of our local restauranteurs would agree: I know Parigi has often featured Lemley’s tomatoes on their menu by name and Jimmy’s sells them, too! If it’s not grown in my backyard, it’s purchased at Lemley’s!
